Adding Support to Your Dental Prostheses

Our Implant Restoration Services

Aside from lost teeth, there will also be instances when your teeth will not be able to support or retain your dental prosthesis. That’s when the implant restoration services offered by MK Dental Clinic in Montreal, Quebec will be mostly helpful.

Implant-Supported Prosthesis

An implant-supported prosthesis refers to the one that is supported by and attached to implants. It can be removed or fixed to suit your needs, your comfort level, and your budget.

Time Required

An immediate prosthesis can be inserted at the time of the extraction of teeth and the placement of implant. The final prosthesis will be installed 3 to 6 months after implant integration.

Its Benefits

  • It will help you regain your pleasant, confident smile.
  • Your prosthesis will not move when you talk or eat.
  • Your prosthesis will allow you to eat a wider variety of foods.
  • The bone levels in your jaw will be less likely to recede. (Note: Without some form of prosthesis, the bone mass in your jaw will gradually decrease, causing receding gums and may require you to get a bone graft.)

We are specialists in renewing old implant-supported prostheses. Unlike many denturists, we stock old implant stocks to

save you time and money.

Implant-Supported Prosthesis

in Zircon

There are many ways of creating implants prosthesis, but the diamond-like hardness of Zircon is a solid performer in assuring durability and strength. These prostheses are prefabricated on a tooth-by-tooth basis to match the naturalness of your teeth. If you require a full denture, the teeth will look more natural than any other denture material.

Its Benefits

  • Zircon is as hard as a diamond, displays strong resistance, and lasts longer. Therefore, it saves you more time and money.
  • The translucence of a Zircon tooth is very similar to your natural teeth, making you smile with confidence.
  • The glossy, smooth surface of Zircon teeth will prevent tartar accumulation.
  • Because Zircon teeth are biocompatible with the human body, they can prevent rashes or allergic reactions that are sometimes found with standard prostheses.

Removable Implant-Supported Prosthesis

A non-fixed or removable implant-supported prosthesis allows you to remove your partial or full denture. The retention force of the snaps is adjustable to accommodate your hands’ grip strength and your ability to remove them.

Its Benefits

  • The partial denture does not need to be hooked on another teeth, so there are no tell-tale silver clasps showing in your mouth and will give you a more confident smile.
  • There is no need for dental adhesives, which are expensive, inconvenient, and add an unnecessary taste to your mouth.
  • You won’t suffer the embarrassment of your denture coming lose or falling out in public.

Complete Denture

After the extraction of your remaining teeth and healing of your gums, complete dentures, either upper, lower, or both will be inserted to replace your teeth. Furthermore, complete dentures are removable.

Required time and visits for complete denture: 2-4 weeks / 5-6 visits.

Its Benefits

  • Its tooth colour, shape, size, and position can be personalised based on your preference.
  • A transparent palate makes the denture less noticeable.
  • The colour and tone of the gum section of your denture can also be personalised for a more realistic look.
  • A softer base with a cushion is available to absorb the shocks during chewing, allowing you more comfort and greater choice of food options.

Partial Denture

It is important to replace missing teeth because teeth with gaps beside them can migrate overtime. The consequences for teeth migration are:

  • Problems in chewing food
  • Problems with articulation of the jaw, which could lead to pain
  • Problems with the look of your remaining teeth

A partial denture is removable. Generally, partial dentures need to be hooked on neighboring teeth. If the visibility of metallic hooks bothers you, less noticeable transparent hooks are also available. You may also choose to have a partial denture with snaps and no hooks. See Removable Implant-Supported Prostheses for more information.

You can choose between an acrylic partial denture and a partial metallic denture with or without a palate. The metallic denture without a palate is lighter, may be more comfortable, and you will be able to taste food better. Your MK denturist will make an evaluation

and help you decide.

Immediate Prosthesis

An impression of your existing teeth is performed one week before your tooth extractions. This is mandatory so that your temporary prosthesis will be ready to use immediately after the extraction takes place. Your immediate prosthesis will be in place during the entire gum healing phase (which can take several months), so you can carry on your daily activities.

During the gum healing phase, your gums will shrink and change form. Therefore, your temporary prosthesis will need readjustments by filling the gaps between it and your gums. Readjusting the prosthesis does not only make it more comfortable and efficient, but it also helps for optimal healing.

Time Required

1 week before extraction and 2 additional visits after the extraction for filling the gaps during the healing period

Its Benefits

  • An immediate prosthesis helps control blood loss post-extraction
  • You can chew normally.
  • It stops food from coming in direct contact with the wound which helps prevent infection.
  • It facilitates wound healing.
  • You do not have to appear toothless in public.
  • It will reduce the adaptation period to your new dentures.

Denture Repair

To repair broken dentures, we need to collect all the broken pieces. If there are missing pieces, we will take an impression in order to reproduce the missing part.

Do not hesitate to call us if you have:

  • A broken denture
  • Broken hooks
  • A tooth that is broken or has fallen out
  • The need to add one or more teeth to your existing denture after tooth extraction

Its Benefit

You do not need to endure having no dentures for a long time. Our clinic laboratory can usually repair broken dentures

within the same day.

Relining

The bone and tissues in your mouth will change in shape over time. After a tooth extraction, a phenomenon known as bone resorption will cause the bone mass under your teeth to decrease. Gaps will form between your gums and your denture. As a consequence, your dentures will become loose and, therefore, will need relining. Relining them will fill in the gaps and prevent further bone loss.
